Dear God We Need Your Help

Image
Dear God: We need help. I cannot believe that we as a nation of rational, thinking belivers still think that any type of gun control or regulation will turn the tide of violence that has engulfed our nation. I cannot believe we do not believe in you. I cannot believe that we will not pray together. The Devil is kicking our asses. Satan is beating us like a pimp beats a hooker.  Lucifer, the father of all lies, is tricking us into killing ourselves and we still won’t turn to God and pray. Instead we dry our tears pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and walk right back into Satan’s hateful arms, ready for another beating. I don’t get it. Plenty of people here in America and on this earth have some rememberence of their religious upbringing and understand what SPIRITUAL WAREFARE IS ABOUT.  Those people need to step up and start talking about what they know--outside of church. In short, we all need to actually do what the Pastors and the Reverends and the Fathers have been t

Obama Administration Finalizes Historic 54.5 mpg Fuel Efficiency Standards

Image
Consumer Savings Comparable to Lowering Price of Gasoline by $1 Per Gallon by 2025 WASHINGTON, DC – The Obama Administration today finalized groundbreaking standards that will increase fuel economy to the equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by Model Year 2025.  When combined with previous standards set by this Administration, this move will nearly double the fuel efficiency of those vehicles compared to new vehicles currently on our roads. In total, the Administration’s national program to improve fuel economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions will save consumers more than $1.7 trillion at the gas pump and reduce U.S. oil consumption by 12 billion barrels. “These fuel standards represent the single most important step we’ve ever taken to reduce our dependence on foreign oil,”  said President Obama . “This historic agreement builds on the progress we’ve already made to save families money at the pump and cut our oil consumption.  By the middle of the n

Romney cries foul, accuses Obama campaign of 'hatred' (really?) What does, "I hope he fails," mean?

Image
Romney stays on offensive, accuses Obama of campaign of 'hatred'  -   so what is  "make sure he doesn't get a second term" considered? Love talk? No other president has been so consistently mistreated than Pres. Obama Pres. Obama greets well-wishers at O'Hare Airport August 11, 2012. First off, since when did any member of the GOP care about chains on people? It is they who bind hands and legs by choosing not participate fully in the Obama Economy, which is the American economy, which is an economy of the People. Hurting the president by not cooperating with Democrats hurts America. If the GOP is so concerned about helping people, participate fully in the economy and support the President's initiatives. Barack Obama is a proven president of the People.  Who are members of the GOP to the People? What have they shown us People thus far? (that they will punish the People for voting for Obama as some of their leaders are vindictive) People who would

NY Times article: Mitt Romney Basically Killed a Woman

Image
What do you think? Read  Mitt Romney Basically Killed a Woman   and comment. Thus far there are 92 comments on the article and a debate on Morning Joe and some of the other morning news shows. One commenter even mentions a "chain or causality." Watch the ad for yourself and decide. Personally, I know that lack of access to affordable health care will negatively impact whether or not a person lives and is cured of disease or dies from disease. People are supposed to get check ups and if your health care is from a job you no longer have and cannot or do not pay COBRA premiums, you can die from undetected disease. And, just because the woman had insurance does not mean she still got health care. What type of insurance did she have and did she know she still was insured? Did she die because her insurance stopped? One day everyone in this nation will make sure everyone has free, accessible health care like other civilized nations so that we may attend to other important i

Why I'm Standing With President Obama Today

Image
Sandra Fluke is a Public Interest Law Scholar, Georgetown University Law Center   Sandra Fluke wrote Wednesday in the Huffington Post,   Why I'm Standing With President Obama Today  as he outlines during a two-day campaign tour in Colorado , how our vote will affect American women and their fight for affordable, accessible health care. Fluke became known to most of America after testifying before the House of Representatives on the importance of requiring insurance plans to cover contraceptives and right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh flamed her incessantly — going so far as to speculate about Fluke's morality. Watch President Obama in Grand Junction, Colorado .

Northeastern Indiana manufacturers say college grads may not be a "good fit"

Image
Half of today's recent college grads cannot find work. There is not a labor shortage or labor deficiency with the workforce in Indiana or anywhere else.  There is a perception problem between small business owners, the current objectives of human resource professionals and the actual workforce of available, qualified college graduates. The CNN Money article,  Northeast Indiana: Hundreds of factory jobs go unfilled , addresses the labor issue but I would love to get a definition of  "a good fit". What does a Northeastern Indiana factory worker have to know that a college graduate does not know or cannot be trained to do? This problem of not wanting to hire college graduates is not new, however it has yet to be work shopped or have an in-service or two dedicated to the issue. Human resource professionals understand  the needs of workforce groups but especially in a small business setting, rules come from the top down and what the boss says goes. Often in a sm

Statement by President Obama on the Passage of the Middle Class Tax Cut Extension

Image
July 25, 2012 With the Senate’s vote, the House Republicans are now the only people left in Washington holding hostage the middle-class tax cuts for 98% of Americans and nearly every small business owner.  The last thing a typical middle class family can afford is a $2,200 tax hike at the beginning of next year.  It’s time for House Republicans to drop their demand for another $1 trillion giveaway to the wealthiest Americans and give our families and small businesses the financial security and certainty that they need.  Our economy isn’t built from the top-down, it’s built from a strong and growing middle class, and that’s who we should be fighting for.  ###

Charter limit? More schools coming to Gary - Post-Tribune

Charter limit? More schools coming to Gary - Post-Tribune Some say charter schools deplete Gary Community School Corp. dollars but it is unclear whether or not it is an unnecessary depletion. Charter school supporters say there is a waiting list of students for local charter schools so more charter schools are needed. There will be a meeting held on the issue 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Steel City Buffet on West Fifth Avenue in Gary. Personally, what parent would not want their child attending a school where personal attention per pupil is promoted? There should be more college prep high schools in the city to make sure every student is prepared for college academics and get an opportunity to attend college. Students and parents are customers, as each student has a dollar amount attached to their placement in a school. Since charter schools are public schools, competition should be fierce for each student and the quality of education should rise. Isn't that what we, the people,

The People's Place to Talk

I don't write much on my blogs anymore but I will attempt to post regularly on here. There is no place for regular everyday people to comment without being rabid for one side or the other. What about normal citizens who have other things going on in their lives, who vote, who pay attention to what goes on around them but choose not to share? Most folk don't want to share for fear of being attacked for their very normal maybe blaze views. Not everything in life is exciting, glittery or new. Most stuff is routine and somewhat boring. It is called the grind for a reason. I tell ya though--I'm tired of getting everyone else's oversimplified version of the truth or spin as it is called, pushed into my ear everyday. It is not reflective of my views at all--rarely if ever. But I'm stuck with it. I ain't glad about it but it is there. Man, whatever.

Mother's Day founder Anna Marie Jarvis

Image
Anna Marie Jarvis is credited as the founder of Mother's Day. Her own mother expressed a wish for a day to honor mothers after a Sunday School lesson on mothers of the Bible when Anna Marie was 12. This inspired her to take up her mother's cause after her mother's death in 1905. photo credit: Michael Drummond Anna Marie Jarvis Jarvis was born in West Virginia May 1, 1864. She was the ninth of 11 children born to Ann Marie Reeves and Granville Jarvis. Her mother was a teacher, and Jarvis became a teacher as well. She never had children. Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis Jarvis' mother's work with women's organizations inspired the creation of mother's day. The elder Reeves Jarvis organized a series of Mother's Day Work Clubs in their area to improve health and sanitary conditions. The clubs rai
