Statement by President Obama on the Passage of the Middle Class Tax Cut Extension

Image
July 25, 2012 With the Senate’s vote, the House Republicans are now the only people left in Washington holding hostage the middle-class tax cuts for 98% of Americans and nearly every small business owner.  The last thing a typical middle class family can afford is a $2,200 tax hike at the beginning of next year.  It’s time for House Republicans to drop their demand for another $1 trillion giveaway to the wealthiest Americans and give our families and small businesses the financial security and certainty that they need.  Our economy isn’t built from the top-down, it’s built from a strong and growing middle class, and that’s who we should be fighting for.  ###

Charter limit? More schools coming to Gary - Post-Tribune

Charter limit? More schools coming to Gary - Post-Tribune Some say charter schools deplete Gary Community School Corp. dollars but it is unclear whether or not it is an unnecessary depletion. Charter school supporters say there is a waiting list of students for local charter schools so more charter schools are needed. There will be a meeting held on the issue 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Steel City Buffet on West Fifth Avenue in Gary. Students and parents are customers, as each student has a dollar amount attached to their placement in a school. Since charter schools are public schools, competition should be fierce for each student and the quality of education should rise. Isn't that what we, the people,

The People's Place to Talk

I don't write much on my blogs anymore but I will attempt to post regularly on here. There is no place for regular everyday people to comment without being rabid for one side or the other. What about normal citizens who have other things going on in their lives, who vote, who pay attention to what goes on around them but choose not to share? Most folk don't want to share for fear of being attacked for their very normal maybe blaze views. Not everything in life is exciting, glittery or new. Most stuff is routine and somewhat boring. It is called the grind for a reason. I tell ya though--I'm tired of getting everyone else's oversimplified version of the truth or spin as it is called, pushed into my ear everyday. It is not reflective of my views at all--rarely if ever. But I'm stuck with it. I ain't glad about it but it is there. Man, whatever.
