When I enter my kitchen, I feel despair some mornings, because of the impossible to-do lists I’ve created. So many emotions are projected onto this one room. However, it is still my most favorite place in the house because there are a variety of tasks I can accomplish.
If I want to make my family happy, I can make a hearty breakfast casserole they can drizzle syrup upon. Or I can make for lunch, a giant pizza that takes two hours to make and dirties up way too many pans.
My kitchen is the heart of my home—a space where my children and I connect creatively. Since they are older there isn’t much common ground outside of my latest version of Noodle Kaboodle but they like it. I still like the warm feeling I get when my adult children enjoy what I prepare. I feel like Mommy, the only name they know.
Time spent in our kitchen is a new grownup connection, where nourishment and sound nutritional judgment come together.

from a leftover frozen Memorial Day roast, creates new and pleasant memories for my family. It’s the only room where I am constantly doing something for someone else. When I’m hungry, I go into the kitchen, make a fold over sandwich from something, and walk back into my bedroom. My kitchen improves my personality by making me less selfish.
My kitchen brings whomever is in my home, together. We talk, argue, discuss and agree. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we silently keep it clean like shift or office workers using their break room.
