In August 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery shut down the Cartoon Network website, redirecting visitors to its streaming service, Max. This move was part of a strategic focus on platforms with higher consumer engagement and growth potential.


Content Removal:


In December 2024, several Cartoon Network games were delisted from digital stores like Steam and the Nintendo eShop. Titles such as “Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest” and “Steven Universe: Save the Light” were among those removed. The companies involved did not provide specific reasons for these delistings.


Clarification on Shutdown Rumors:


Despite these changes, Cartoon Network has clarified that it is not shutting down. Reports suggesting the network’s closure are false. The rumors stemmed from a hashtag used by an animation workers’ group highlighting industry challenges. The network continues to operate and provide content through various platforms.


In summary, while Cartoon Network has experienced structural changes, website closures, and content removals as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s strategic realignment, the network itself remains operational, continuing to deliver animated entertainment to its audience.
